Chapter 7 in Economic Policy for the European Community, 1974, pp 185-232 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract The way in which the European Community pursues its commercial and other economic interests, even if it just temporizes and does nothing, is bound to exert a profound influence on the world economic (and political) order. If the process of European economic integration is to be promoted in harmony with the integration of the world economy as a whole, the interest of the Community lies very much in the maintenance of a multilateral system of trade and payments that is open and non-discriminatory, one governed by explicit and internationally-agreed rules and principles.1
