A chapter in Currency Areas, 1976, pp 1-7 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract This study has been stimulated by the attempts from 1969 onwards to create an Economic and Monetary Union in the European Economic Community by 1980. The theoretical survey of Chapter 2, and the empiricism of Chapter 3, represent an assessment of the feasibility of introducing a currency area in the Community, where a currency area is defined as either a common currency area or an area within which totally fixed exchange rates operate.
