Abstract:
Abstract The European Coal and Steel Community (E.C.S.C.) set up in 1952, was the pioneer of European integration. It applied the Community method to the coal and steel industries as a first step towards integration of the economy as a whole. A decision to merge the executives of the E.C.S.C. and Euratom with the E.E.C. came into effect on 1 July 1967.
