Abstract:
Abstract This paper covers the development of the Imperial Tobacco Co. (of Great Britain and Ireland) Ltd (ITCo) over the period from 1901 to the early 1960s. My analysis is divided into two parts: a brief description of the main changes in the company’s organisation and a comparison of Imperial’s development with the Chandler typology.1
