Abstract: Abstract Water is one of man’s basic and precious resources. It is the first requirement for the survival of all forms of life, but, unlike oil, coal and other natural resources, water is renewable. Besides serving personal needs, it plays a vital role in agriculture, industry, navigation and the production of energy. The management and conservation of water is therefore essential in order to maximise social benefits, within various technological, economic, environmental and other constraints.
