Abstract: Abstract Shortly after his return to London, Keynes became involved in a public controversy over Bretton Woods. The Times, in a series of articles written by ‘a special correspondent’, launched a broad attack on the agreement. Whoever the author was, his ideas were very similar to those Hubert Henderson had expressed in several memoranda. Among other criticisms, the credit facilities of the Monetary Fund were judged insufficient to meet Britain’s postwar problems.
