Chapter 1 in Financing Industrial Investment, 1979, pp 1-18 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract This book attempts to place into context one of the factors which contribute to economic growth. Its primary aim is to show how industrial investment is financed in five developed economies — in France, Japan, West Germany, the UK and the USA — and to indicate from that analysis how the investment level may be stimulated in private industry in the UK. A secondary aim is to place the financing of capital investment into perspective as a contributory factor in assisting rapid economic development. This will involve a review of some of the current literature on the other possible reasons why the UK is growing slowly, relative to some of its major partners in the OECD.
