Chapter 4 in The Measurement of Capital, 1979, pp 99-132 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract There can be no doubting the importance of investment in fixed capital in an industrialised economy. The story of the industrial revolution could be written in terms of looms, steam-driven pumps and locomotives. Today, investment and the stock of fixed capital play a very important part in the consideration of the performance of all modern economies.
