Comparability in Real Terms
Jaroslav Krejčí
Chapter 4 in National Income and Outlay in Czechoslovakia, Poland and Yugoslavia, 1982, pp 48-55 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract In this chapter an attempt is made to put some data expressed in national currencies to a common denominator. Unfortunately information on the quantity of goods and services used and their prices in individual countries is available for comparative purposes only to a limited extent. Only a part of private consumption data can be compared meaningfully. Data on food and beverages both as far as their per capita consumption and their prices are concerned are available in sufficient detail for the construction of an average consumer’s basket and its cost. Also the data on average rent in apartment houses are comparable.
