Margaret Reid
Chapter 10 in The Secondary Banking Crisis, 1973–75, 1982, pp 120-137 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract As the property crisis developed from the early summer of 1974 and the international scene was darkened soon after by shocks such as the Herstatt crash, the scale of Britain’s secondary bank problem expanded dramatically. Calls on the Lifeboat grew worryingly, with total support loans increasing by £53 m in the second quarter to £443 m and by a further £551 m to £994 m by the end of September.
