Chapter 2 in Aid and Influence, 1981, pp 14-24 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract Bangladesh was born in December 1971 out of a war of liberation — a war in which many died and many more suffered extreme privation. Thirty million people were forced to leave their homes and move elsewhere in the country, or to India where ten million found refuge. Damage was extensive. The physical damage resulting from the war of liberation was estimated to have been well over $1500 million,1 excluding loss of current output.
