State Trading and the Politics of Oil

Øystein Noreng

Chapter 5 in State Trading in International Markets, 1982, pp 103-116 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract State trading in oil prevails when oil trade flows are conducted on government-determined terms of transaction (see Chapter 1). State trading in crude oil and oil products has become a frequent occurrence in the contemporary international markets and, as such, has greatly affected the political relationships of the trading partners involved.
