Abstract:
Abstract The social system can be briefly described as a network of relations amongst individuals and groups regulated by beliefs and institutions. Social systems can be viewed in historical (‘vertical’) perspective or in the contemporary (‘horizontal’) scene. In this study we are primarily concerned with the comparative setting prevailing in the world today, although we shall be occasionally referring — still for comparative purposes — to historical antecedents.
