A chapter in Employment and Wage Policies in Poland, Czechoslovakia and Hungary since 1950, 1984, pp 224-227 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract All three countries have not only managed to liquidate unemployment, but they even suffer from labour shortages. They have managed to avoid unemployment even at a time when the economy has stagnated or declined. Poland’s economic situation is a case in point; despite great declines in output, resulting largely from shortages of raw materials, unemployment has not arisen. On the contrary, labour shortages are felt in various sectors.
