Abstract:
Abstract In order to examine both the rate and nature of technical change in the Peruvian manufacturing sector we shall begin by attempting a preliminary measurement of such change. The basic data for such measurement can be found in Table 13.1 and our estimated results in Table 13.2. With such objective in mind and being quite conscious of the various shortcomings which underlie the estimation of ‘residuals’ as proxy estimates for technical progress, we have measured the rate of overall factor productivity growth in a sample of around 100 industrial establishments. Our sample covers a sever-year period, from 1969 to 1975.1
