Abstract:
Abstract World rubber consumption has increased dramatically in the past two decades, even though the world economic recession in the last decade severely depressed the rubber market. A rough picture of the development of rubber consumption is given in table 6.1. While for the world as a whole, rubber consumption has more than tripled between 1960–1980, some countries have shown a more moderate though still substantial increase: USA, Germany F.R., France and especially the United Kingdom. Extremely high growth rates over the past two decades have been achieved by e.g. Brazil, Japan, some developing countries and Eastern Europe.
