The IMF and the Developing World: History, Relationships and Resource Uses
Graham Bird
Chapter 3 in International Financial Policy and Economic Development, 1987, pp 42-62 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract The purpose of this chapter is to provide an institutional and historical background to the discussion contained in subsequent ones. However, the temptation to provide a comprehensive glossary of IMF facilities or a detailed statistical picture of the use of these facilities by developing countries has been resisted, the reason being that such information is conveniently available elsewhere.1
