Chapter 4 in Hong Kong, 1987, pp 76-95 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract An effort has been made in Chapter 3 to emphasise and demonstrate that landscape is a dynamic phenomenon, and it follows thus that an examination at any given time is analogous to the freezing of a moving film at a particular frame. Therefore, in order to incorporate a degree of prediction into such an analysis, it becomes necessary to distinguish trends which are currently in progress. In the present context there are three current trends of significance: expansion and decentralisation in Hong Kong, the modernisation campaign in China, and an expansion of linkages between Hong Kong and China.
