Abstract:
Abstract Setting up the London Transport Executive went smoothly; it took Barnes only seven days from the Act receiving the royal assent to consult the Commission and receive the expected recommendation that Lord Latham should be Chairman and John Cliff Vice-Chairman, thus ensuring continuity with the existing London Passenger Transport Board.
