Abstract:
Abstract The most important contributions to the debate not yet dealt with come from Samir Amin. Amin, who admits the heuristic merits of Emmanuel and Braun as well as the usefulness of the debate triggered by the former, introduces historic materialism as his method of analysis. This allows him to introduce effective demand more fully into his line of argument, and to extend it to non-capitalist modes of production.
