Chapter 9 in The Economic Impact of Leasing, 1988, pp 155-161 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract The hypotheses put forward in this research suggested that the growth of leasing has had a favourable macroeconomic effect on the UK economy in two ways. First, by providing a relatively cheap source of finance through tax advantage it has led to a higher level of investment than would otherwise have been the case. This investment, particularly in view of its concentration on plant and equipment, is likely to have generated a faster rate of growth, both through increasing capacity and reducing costs, hence aiding competitiveness and increasing the UKs ability to export overseas and to substitute against imports.
