Abstract Survival in a dynamic industry has often been linked to management guts. Though this is a necessary ingredient, it is not enough: cost-effective products with market appeal, steady innovation, significantly low-cost manufacturing, and a worldwide network able to tap the growing markets are the other four pillars of success.
