Summary and Conclusions

Alfred Kleinknecht

Chapter 10 in Innovation Patterns in Crisis and Prosperity, 1987, pp 197-213 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract In the introduction to this book we quoted two basic questions raised by Kuznets (1940) in his review of Schumpeter’s Business Cycles (1939): 1. Is there any evidence of Kondratieff long waves in important indicators of general economic activity? 2. Is there any evidence of a bunching of Schumpeter’s heroic innovations (and if yes: what is the theoretical explanation)?
