Discussion
Rigas Doganis
A chapter in Transport in a Free Market Economy, 1991, pp 186-194 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract The paper by Frederik Sorensen clearly empahsises the fact, often neglected, that the aim of Community policy is not total deregulation but the creation of ‘… a market structure that will be able to sustain competition’. This is a much more difficult task than that of deregulation in the United States, where it was assumed that, if you did away with all regulations, the economic and market characteristics of the industry were such as to ‘sustain competition’ despite total deregulation.
