Chapter 12 in The Blue Funnel Legend, 1990, pp 282-332 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract The retirement of Lawrence Holt and Roland Thornton in 1953, the sudden death of W. H. Dickie in 1954, and the approaching retirement of Hobhouse in 1956 (delayed until 1957 by the Suez crisis) made imperative the recasting of the managerial team. These were not the only losses. In 1955 Brian Heathcote, an Assistant Manager who had taken a wide measure of responsibility for staff and training matters, retired after 36 years with the company. Storrs, due to retire in 1960, was also approaching the end of his career with Blue Funnel.
