The Economic Approach to Conversion (I)
Peter Southwood
Chapter 6 in Disarming Military Industries, 1991, pp 79-101 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract Of all the approaches to conversion (see Figure 1.1) that which deals with the economics of disarmament has received by far the most attention. Beginning in the late 1950s and reaching a peak of interest in the mid-1960s, the publication of fresh studies fell away sharply with the onset of the Indo-China War, only to rise once more as the Americans began to withdraw, then continuing to the present day on a more infrequent basis.
