Abstract:
Abstract Recent years have seen the development of a major innovation in the area of financial instruments, namely the use of futures contracts on stock indices. This innovation has gone hand-in-hand with the increasing use of index funds as a strategy in passive portfolio management, well developed during the last decade in the US, and now being taken on board in the UK and Japan. This latter development stems from the revolution in investment management outlined by David Damant in Chapter 1.
