Chapter 6 in Global Protectionism, 1991, pp 119-142 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract There is now a sizeable body of literature on various aspects of services. This includes conceptual and definitional issues, the interrelationship between economic growth and the growth of the services sector, the relevance of received theory of international trade in goods to an analysis of international trade in services, problems associated with the measurement of productivity growth in the services sector, and the framework of regulations governing trade in services in various countries. In addition, there is the wide-ranging discussion on the legal and constitutional issues relating to the proposed liberalisation of trade in services.
