Introduction

A. D. P. Edwards

A chapter in The Exporter’s & Importer’s Handbook on Foreign Currencies, 1990, pp 1-10 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract This book is based on nearly forty years experience of working closely with all manner of industrial and commercial companies in the fields of export credits, export finance and foreign exchange. It has been written in layman’s terms avoiding jargon and is designed to show how the foreign exchange market works and how exporters and importers can and should be using its facilities so as to obtain, without incurring exchange risks, the benefits which its proper uses can bestow. These have a direct bearing on a company’s overseas marketing, pricing and purchasing strategy and it is hoped that the book will assist all those concerned in the formation of that strategy and especially those executives involved with the negotiation of overseas sales and the purchase of overseas supplies.
