Abstract:
Abstract In the 1960s researchers suddenly discovered the multinational company (especially the American variety, apparently in the process of engulfing Europe, if not the rest of the world) and all its works. Many sang the praises of its prowess and technological achievements, though others stressed the various problems associated with its operations. The latter view was, perhaps, more prevalent during the 1970s; but the former persuasion has increasingly gained credence in recent years as nations, struggling against the blight of economic turmoil, have turned (often with indecent haste) to multinational companies for salvation.
