Abstract: Abstract This chapter is made up of two reminiscences, by Poul Nørregaard Rasmussen and Richard M. Goodwin. The first is the edited text of a dinner speech given by Poul Nørregaard Rasmussen on 14 June 1990 at the Arne Ryde Conference in honour of Björn Thalberg, held at Marienlyst, Elsinore. The reminiscences are about the Oslo of Frisch — and of Frisch himself — and hence a portrait of the background that shaped the young Thalberg.
