A chapter in Islamic Economic Alternatives, 1992, pp 1-7 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract There has been growing interest in Islam and Islamic economic alternatives in recent times, both within and outside the Muslim world. Even the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is reported to have publicly endorsed Islamic banking principles in the mid-1980s. This book introduces some of the more notable recent contributions on Islamic economic alternatives available in the English language.
