A chapter in General Equilibrium Economics, 1992, pp 1-4 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract The opportunity to review one’s writing and research efforts over forty years permits one to become reacquainted with one’s younger self, to assess what one interprets — perhaps too self-indulgently — as growth, and to judge the worthwhileness of what one has been about for a lifetime. Like all self-education that is a satisfying experience, but not without the pain of wishing that one had seen things more clearly more quickly, that one could have avoided mistakes and had not entered so many blind alleys. Like all self-judgment it is at once too forgiving and too harsh, and to be viewed with (hopefully generous) suspicion by others. All in all, however, it has been enjoyable in the present case, and I am grateful for the opportunity to do so. My hope is that the reader will find the volume valuable for his or her purposes.
