Chapter 5 in The Competitive Consultant, 1994, pp 49-66 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract We have described consultancy as a process in which a consultant provides a service to a client for the purpose of meeting the client’s need. We have also conceptualised this process in terms of the problem-solving paradigm, i.e. viewing the client’s need as a problem to be solved. In the course of this problem-solving process the consultant may undertake a variety of roles according to his or her interpretation of the needs of the situation. The value of the 1+7 model is that it identifies (in a readily assimilated form) the key roles which consultants should be able to undertake in the process.
