Chapter 4 in A Guide to United Kingdom and European Union Competition Policy, 1996, pp 87-96 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract The legislation and procedures summarised in the foregoing chapters provide all that a businessman needs to know about the authorities’ treatment of some business practices, such as resale price maintenance. In those cases, reference to the legislation itself, or to one of the more detailed guides which are available, may suffice. More commonly, however, it will be necessary to supplement that information with the guidance which is available from past cases. The extent to which it is necessary to go beyond what is available in the legislation and official guides to it differs, however, between the competition policy of the EU and that of the UK. The reasons for this are discussed in section E of this chapter.
