Leadership in the Post-Industrial Era
David Jackson
Chapter 4 in Dynamic Organisations, 1997, pp 87-111 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract Gerard Langler, president of the Mentor Graphics Corporation says ‘Followers want their leaders to take them on increasingly inspirational journeys. In fact they judge leaders on the basis of this ability’. But he warns of grand visions that may become masterpieces of poetry but not of profit. The most powerful visions are not those which are handed down from above, but those which come from inside. Helping people develop their own dreams for their work and personal lives is the major task facing leaders today.
