Chapter 8 in Sectoral Analysis of Trade, Investment and Business in Vietnam, 1999, pp 69-79 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract Informatics has been paid much attention and strongly developed by the Vietnamese government for a long time. From the early 1960s, groups of experts in this field were sent abroad to follow training courses. However, until the 1970s, Vietnam imported only a few computers capable of big and multi-programme generation such as ODRA, MINSK and the ES series, mainly applied in scientific, technical, educational and national defence fields, and some special-purpose electronic computers such as CELATRON, applied in statistical and banking branches.
