Chapter 2 in Disasters and the Media, 1999, pp 17-29 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract What are the responsibilities of managers in communicating at a time of disaster or crisis? This chapter raises some of the issues which managers could consider in preparing to deal with such events. The issues raised, while some may be used as guidelines in planning for a crisis or disaster response, are primarily intended to stimulate thinking and discussion in organisations and the news media which reports on them. Some practical ideas about training and rehearsal are given in Chapter 13.
