Principles of the Digital Economy
Alf Chattell
Chapter 1 in Creating Value in the Digital Era, 1998, pp 7-28 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract The quotation opposite, adapted from Tom Peters,1 provides at least one very good reason for taking the question of value creation in the Digital Era very seriously. Peters was talking about the 2 billion or so highly educated people, many from Asia, who will flood into the global market in the next 10 to 15 years, most of whom will be a keystroke away on the Internet. The arrival of all the world’s talented, educated and enthusiastic people at our electronic doorsteps, each empowered by a cyber-revolution that will connect everything and everyone, presents the makings of a major challenge.
