Real Teamworking

Abstract:
Abstract In many organisations ‘teamworking’ has now replaced ‘family’ as the desirable corporate glue and it is lauded as the magic answer to many corporate ills — although, as always, the results only rarely match the promise. But however much senior executives may publicly proclaim ‘We’re one big team in this company’ there can be little doubt that many secretly agree with the apocryphal maxim attributed to film director, Michael Winner: Teamworking is a Lot of People Doing What i Say! Judging from the reaction whenever I use this slide, this approach does not go unnoticed! Michael Winner’s most celebrated films are the ‘Death Wish’ series — a title which, when related to teamworking, is somewhat prophetic!
