Further Applications — Strategic Thinking and Knowledge

Neville Bain and Bill Mabey

Chapter 11 in The People Advantage, 1999, pp 182-194 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract The emphasis here is on strategic thinking rather than the more comprehensive topic of strategic planning. The reason for this is that we wish to draw attention to the people aspects, and that strategic thinking is a key requirement for most managers today, especially for those in a general management role. This concept of strategic management thinking focuses on delivering long-term value to an enterprise while at the same time ensuring that predetermined short-term goals are met.
