Abstract: Abstract This chapter draws together the findings of the case studies on foreign aid agencies and foreign aid to Tanzania during the period 1965–95, tracking the strategy and behaviour of three major donors: China, Sweden and the USA. It also examines the lessons that can be drawn from this study focusing on the common tendency among all three donors to fall into a trap that hampers their efforts. Finally, it discusses the need for a structural adjustment of foreign aid itself.
