Chapter 10 in The Small Business Casebook, 1979, pp 144-183 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract Early in September 1970, David Medwin (28) arrived in London from Central Africa to assess on behalf of the shareholders the future of Barnes and Ward Ltd. He discovered an old-fashioned, unprofitable company operating in a declining market. Although his family held a large portion of the shares, David had to take into account the interests of the other shareholders when choosing whether to try to revive the company, to close it down or to put it up for sale.
