A chapter in The Dictionary of Modern Economics, 1983, pp 480-480 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract Yaoundé Conventions. After two years of negotiations, a convention of association between the European Economic Community and the Associated African and Malagasy States was signed at Yaoundé, the capital of Cameroon, in 1963. This convention, known as the Yaoundé Convention, established a series of reciprocal and non-discriminatory trade policies, outlined rules governing international payments and capital movements and extended financial and technical co-operation programmes. Tariffs and quotas were gradually eliminated on most goods traded between the EEC member countries and the associated states. Provisions on establishment services, payments and capital transfers were based on the principle of reciprocal non-discrimination against individuals and firms.
