A chapter in Economics, 1984, pp 304-308 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract In this book I have invited you to follow the path of history into the modern world, with stops amongst the hunter-gatherers, herdsmen and cultivators, through slave-owning kingdoms and republics and the feudal system, to the despotisms by which European States were unified, and the great explorations from which capitalism was born, by which the despots were replaced by the bourgeois democracies that dominate the world of today.
