Chapter 1 in Exchange Rates, Money and Output, 1985, pp 1-3 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract The macroeconomic performance of the industrialised countries since 1970 has been anything but brilliant. Low growth of output, increasing unemployment, high and variable inflation rates and interest rates, volatile exchange rates; these are the hallmarks of the 1970s and the early 1980s: In this book we examine in detail some aspects of these macroeconomic problems in six European countries: Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom.
