Foreign Aid and the Private Bond Market

Graham Bird

Chapter 7 in World Finance and Adjustment, 1985, pp 144-174 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract The previous chapter concentrated on short-term financial provision through the commercial banking sector and the official sector. We now turn to examine longer-term flows of finance. Most of the chapter will focus on foreign aid, but we begin with a brief discussion of long-term lending through the private bond market.
