Chapter 4 in Options for Developing Countries in Mining Development, 1986, pp 56-86 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract The model that has been chosen is taken to resemble that of a gold mining project, but it has been simplified and structured in such a way so as to have general applicability. In casting the model it is recognised that the treatment of case studies can generally be restrictive in their applicability to other forms of mining, since by their nature each mineral project can be considered unique. However, to assess the impact of various fiscal provisions as they are enshrined in the respective statutes of the countries, the assumptions that have been made seek to hide the identity of the mineral, and hence render the results generally applicable.
