Abstract:
Abstract The manufacture of capital goods, and particularly of industrial machinery, has been a fundamental instrument in generating and diffusing technological innovations. For this reason, it has been argued that ‘creating a capital goods industry is, in effect, a major way of institutionalizing internal pressures for the adoption of new technology’.2
