Chapter 3 in Economics for a Civilized Society, 1988, pp 52-68 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract Most economists analyse the world using a set of notions known as the neoclassical model. Economic problems are viewed strictly from the perspective of business self-interest; civic values are ignored. Consequently traditional conservative economic policies have a major flaw; they fail to provide civilized solutions to our pressing economic ills.
